A genuine early 19th century Georgian brass and mahogany draw telescope, signed J Abraham, Bath. This is a multi draw (collapsible) terrestrial telescope dating to approx. Circa 1820, during the Georgian period. The telescope features turned mahogany main barrel with brass fittings and smoothly extending draw tubes. The eyepiece is engraved J Abraham, Bath a known optician and scientific instrument maker working in Bath in the early 1800's, supplyling instruments to high end clientele. The telescope extends and retracts as it should and displays well with a pleasing original patina. Condition has general age related wear expected from a piece that is around 200 years old. The brass has a natural age patina and not over polished, the mahogany body shows surface marks and wear. The draw tubes extend and retract smoothly. Optics are present untested for precision, sold as an antique display collectable item. Approximate size, closed 10". A fine and authentic antique, ideal for collectors, display, or period interiors.
