Victorian Thief, Burgler, Dark Lamp / Lantern. Fantastic piece of social history. Thiefs and general shady perople used to carry these around as the light could be dimmed to almost nothing and brightened up again by opening and shutting the folding doors. This lamp was easily concealed in pockets and used a candle to light it. This one is in excellent condition for age with both the doors working well and nothing missing. The brass top is in good condition and it even has the remenents of an old wick inside.
The lamp stands 15cm tall.
