WAS Benson (William Arthur Smith Benson) made famous insulated jugs, known as "Patent Jacketed Vessels," around the turn of the 20th century, primarily from copper and brass with an inner white enamel lining and an air gap, designed to keep hot liquids hot and cold liquids cold, popular in the Arts and Crafts movement. These highly collectible thermal jugs featured distinctive designs, often with wooden finials and brass handles, used for carrying hot water or serving drinks.
Jug stands 21cm tall and has some wear on the neck as shown in the photos. Comes with the original thermal lining (enamel). Very early version fully stamped. Uncleaned in original a used condition.
